Norwegian chemical tanker operator, Utkilen, has launched its new LNG dual-fuel tanker , Listraum, at the İçdaş shipyard in Turkey.
In a recent social media update, Utkilen announced the launch of Listraum on November 2, underscoring its commitment to green shipping. The vessel, equipped with LNG tanks, reflects the company’s dedication to reducing emissions. By utilizing liquefied natural gas (LNG), Listraum will significantly reduce sulfur, nitrogen oxide, and carbon dioxide emissions, making it a cleaner and more environmentally friendly fuel option for maritime transport.
Listraum is the first of four 6,700 dwt chemical tankers that Utkilen has on order at the Turkish shipyard. The fleet of vessels will be delivered starting in 2024, with plans to operate in the Baltics and the North Sea.
Each of the four ships will feature multifuel engines, optimized hull design, and battery and shore power connectivity to support Utkilen LNG decarbonization strategy.
Norwegian specialist Høglund Marine Solutions will supply an integrated solution for the vessels, including automation and power management, hybrid-electric systems, digital controls, and fuel gas supply systems (FGSS) to power the fleet effectively and sustainably.
